Success in Trial Rolling of Nickel Steel at AGIS No.1 Steel Rolling Plant's 2800mm Production Line

 On January 14th, the 2800mm production line at Anyang Iron & Steel Group (AGIS) No.1 Steel Rolling Plant successfully completed trial rolling of 5mm 06Ni9DR nickel steel plates. The products met all target requirements in terms of dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and internal quality, adding a new member to their medium-heavy plate product family.

Upon receiving this task, the plant management took immediate action with early deployment and mobilization. The project demanded higher standards for equipment precision and operator skills. The team actively gathered extensive technical documentation and developed trial production plans. They implemented lean production control measures, strictly followed production processes and systems, and strengthened communication between upstream and downstream processes to maintain stable production rhythm.

Multiple technical meetings were held to optimize rolling pass arrangements and load distribution parameters. The rolling scheme underwent rigorous verification to ensure smooth completion of the trial rolling task.

The Rolling Unit #2 formed a special task force to systematically address potential issues and key quality factors during the trial rolling process. They developed detailed measures covering production planning, roll crown control, cooling water adjustment in rolling zones, and finishing operations.

For heating operations, the team carefully inspected the surface high-temperature coating of billets before furnace charging, applying secondary coating where needed. At least four steel billets before and after each 9Ni steel billet were heated following the 9Ni steel heating process, ensuring optimal furnace loading and heating conditions for subsequent rolling.

During rolling operations, the team refined procedures for controlling initial rolling temperature, finish rolling temperature, reduction distribution, and rolling speed. They successfully overcame technical challenges such as rapid temperature drop, high rolling pressure, and difficult shape control through reasonable pass arrangement and reduction control.

The successful trial rolling of 5mm 06Ni9DR nickel steel products has injected new momentum into the efficiency improvement efforts of the 2800mm production line. It also represents the No.1 Steel Rolling Plant's contribution to AGIS's special steel transformation strategy.
